Coppo Wines: Barbera d’Asti, Nizza DOCG and Alta Langa
We have been making wine in Canelli, in the heart of Piedmont, since 1892. Today the range centres on Barbera d’Asti and Nizza DOCG, on Alta Langa DOCG traditional-method sparkling wines, on Chardonnay and on Moscato, and it includes two of the region’s most classic appellations, Gavi DOCG and Barolo DOCG. Every Coppo wine ages in the Underground Cathedrals of Canelli, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Barbera d’Asti and Nizza DOCG
Barbera is the heart of what we make. Since 1984, the first vintage of Pomorosso, we have worked to see it recognised as a great wine for ageing. Six labels, from Camp du Rouss to Pomorosso, show what the grape can do across our vineyards. Pomorosso 2022 was named Best in Show at the Decanter World Wine Awards — the first Barbera ever to enter the selection of the world’s 50 finest wines. Read the full story →
Alta Langa DOCG and traditional-method sparkling
Canelli is the birthplace of Italian sparkling wine, and the traditional method has been part of this house from the beginning. Five labels, from the Luigi Coppo Pas Dosé to the Piero Coppo Riserva del Fondatore, aged 99 months on its lees in bottle.
Moscato and Canelli DOCG
From the 2023 harvest, our Moscato carries the new Canelli DOCG appellation, created that same year to set apart Moscato grapes grown in the historic territory around Canelli.
Chardonnay
Three readings of Chardonnay in Piedmont, from the fresh, immediate Costebianche to the barrel-aged Monteriolo — now in its fortieth vintage, marked with a commemorative label. See the anniversary bottle →
Barolo, Langhe and rare wines
Our Barolo DOCG is made from Nebbiolo grown in the village of La Morra, and ages in our cellars in Canelli under historic rights held by Coppo. Alongside it: Langhe Nebbiolo, Gavi DOCG La Rocca and, since 1987, a rare Langhe DOC Freisa — Mondaccione — which we make only in the best vintages.
Since 1892, Piedmont has aged in the Coppo Cathedrals.
