Visits and tastings at the Coppo Underground Cathedrals
You go forty meters down beneath the hill of Canelli, walk among vaults cut into the tufa, and come back up to taste the wines that rested down there. The Underground Cathedrals are a UNESCO World Heritage site and still our working cellar: open every day, by appointment.
Tour options
We run several tours, all including a tasting. They last from 45 to 120 minutes and cost €30 to €150 per person, depending on the tour and the wines poured — the longest being our Private Tour, with a vertical of older vintages.
When you can visit
Every day, weekends included, by appointment only. Closed August 15 and December 25 and 26.
Tours available in Italian and English.
Where to find us
Visitor entrance: Via Alba 66, 14053 Canelli (AT). Door opens 15 minutes before your tour starts.
Frequently asked questions
How far do we walk? The tunnels run for two kilometers, but the tour covers only part of them, with stops along the way — most visitors barely notice the distance.
Are there stairs or steep sections? The cellar is on a single level and step-free for almost the entire route.
How cold is it down there? Between 12 and 14 °C (54–57 °F) all year round — bring a sweater, even in August.
Can I buy the wines? Yes, at the Wine Shop, right by the exit.
