40 years of Monteriolo - Coppo

An intense, elegant and complex white: since 1984 Monteriolo has been among the headlines of casa Coppo’s production.

Monteriolo is a very high-level Chardonnay which owes its name to the road that goes up the hill surrounding the Coppo Cellars.

Chardonnay, in Piedmont, is not, as many believe, a modern introduction. Its presence is attested starting from the first half of the nineteenth century thanks to the resourcefulness of Filippo Asinari, Count of San Marzano and Costigliole and an important political-military figure. Upon his return from France, where he had collaborated alongside Napoleon, he brought with him some Chardonnay cuttings from the most famous vineyards of Burgundy, to plant them in Costigliole. Their presence in the area persists thanks to the composition of our soil and the microclimate that have allowed them to take root.

Monteriolo is a great white that ages for 9 months in French oak barriques, on the yeasts: once opened it will express all its fruity scents with hints of white chocolate while on the sip it will express all its freshness with a very elegant mineral vein.
